Leger brings grit to Bearcats’ lineup

-

Nate Leger No. 19 Position: Forward Hometown: New Glasgow Size 5- 8, 170 lbs. Age: 20

Bearcat- of- the- week honours go to forward Nate Leger.

Last week, in the first of three Bearcat games, he provided an early spark, which netted him a goal and a pair of assists en route to a Bearcat win in Berwick.

He just came off the DL shelf and immediately made an impact. In that game, his linemates Cameron MacLeod and Connor Morrison picked up two and one goals, respectively. In the Miramichi game, he earned time on the PK unit as well.

Nate got his hockey start in the New Glasgow minor program, working his way through the Crusher classification to play a single season of major bantam with Scotsburn. Next up was a season with the Weeks Major Midgets before the jump to the junior ranks in 2014- 2015 with the junior Crushers.

The undrafted skater played 16 games with the Crushers last year before joining the Pictou County Junior B Scotians, then eventually the Yarmouth Mariners where he finished the season.

In August, the Bearcats engineered a trade with Yarmouth which brought them Leger and Daniel Little.

In Leger, the Bearcats received a player with grit and determination to play a full season in a winning cause.

Hats off

Kudos to Bearcat captain Kyle Tibbo for being selected the MHL’s first star for the month of January. He was also named the Canadian Junior Hockey League ( CJHL) second star for January.

Well done!
