McINTYRE ( McCallum), Elizabeth Amelia – 95, Bible Hill. After a welllived life and suffering a stroke, Elizabeth took her last breath, in the presence of her son, at 2: 10 p. m., Saturday, February

18, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Onslow Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Lishman and Mary ( Higgins) McCallum. In 1941 she married Norman Hoar and in 1952 he succumbed to cancer, leaving her with four young children: Doris, Norman, Allan and David. In 1956, she married Daniel McIntyre, a military man, with Michael being born in 1958. In 1957, Elizabeth moved away, living in Oromocto, Germany, Shilo, Moncton and in 1992 she returned to Bible Hill after Dan passed away. Elizabeth remained healthy and active for more than 24 years with most of her travels about being with family, her dominant focus in life. Mom, Nanny, Elizabeth was the anchor and pivot point of our family. We will honour her memory best if we can flourish in making our ties stronger, given that she has created the atmosphere of belonging and caring for us to build on. Elizabeth was affiliated with Royal Canadian Legion and participat­ed in the Widows and Widowers Associatio­n, St. David’s United Church and UCW. As well as being a jump to it and get it done person, she always enjoyed dancing well into her later years. She was a quilter, making many for family through the years and connecting with other quilters. Being a person who would try new things and have fun with it, she willingly participat­ed in all games that were part of any family bonding event. Even after recently breaking her elbow, she enjoyed playing Scrabble with her daughter, Norma. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Norma Maruda, Allan Hoar ( Sylvie), David Hoar ( Sharon), Michael McIntyre; sister, Olive Ettinger; son- in- law, Gene Lister; 12 grandchild­ren; 18 great grandchild­ren; two greatgreat grandchild­ren, and was connected to all of them. Along with her parents, she was predecease­d by her daughter, Doris Lister; sister, Lolita Sanderson; brothers, Russell, Arnold, Jordie, Charlie, Earl and Kenneth McCallum. Funeral service will be held 2 p. m., Friday, February 24, 2017, at St. David’s United Church, corner of Pictou Road and St. David’s Avenue, Bible Hill, Reverend Donna Lawrence officiatin­g. Reception will follow in St. David’s Hall. Spring interment in Crossroads Cemetery. No flowers by request. If so desired, donations in Elizabeth’s memory to Salvation Army are welcomed.
