LeFresne, Pearl – Age 103, Tatamagouc­he, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, February 16, 2017. Born in Barrachois, ( Tatamagouc­he) she was the daughter of the late Tucker B. and Margaret ( MacQueen) Mattatall. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of Sharon United Church, United Church Women, North Shore Seniors Citizens, a member of Freedom Rebekah Lodge # 62 for 69 years, and the IOOF Past Noble Grands. She was a master baker specializi­ng in pastries and wedding cakes, an avid entreprene­ur operating the Oxford Bakery in Oxford and the Sunrise Bakery in Tatamagouc­he with her late husband Howard. Pearl developed a keen sense for making a sale. She could put her hand to anything from knitting heads for lobster traps, producing crafts and quilts, selling them in the bakery, at markets and from her home until she was in her late 90s. Pearl entered many flower shows winning several awards for her creations. Surviving are, daughter, Ruth Carruthers, Brule; sons, Earl ( Odette), Brookfield; Harris and Jimmie ( Shelley), Tatamagouc­he; Grandchild­ren, Bobbie ( Wanda), Enfield; Alicia ( Donnie Mattinson), Brookfield; Michael Carruthers ( Charlene), Tatamagouc­he; Timothy Carruthers ( Jiyin), Seoul, South Korea; Erin ( Peter Pope), Tatamagouc­he; Jane LeFresne, Ottawa; Great Grand Children, Lindsay and Cameron LeFresne, Enfield; Jessica and Taylor Mattinson, Brookfield; Jaemin Carruthers, Seoul, South Korea; Logan and Mallory Pope, Tatamagouc­he. She was predecease­d by her husband, Howard of 68 years; daughter- in- law, Margie ( wife of Earl), son- in- law, Lee ( husband of Ruth), sisters, Alice ( Mrs. Fulton Hortin) and Ruth ( Mrs. John Smith), and infant sister, Hazel; Brothers, Hugh, Gordon, Elmer, Earl, Tucker Jr. and Lester. Visitation will be 4- 7 p. m. Saturday, February 25, in Coulters Funeral Home ( 902- 657- 3288) Tatamagouc­he. Public IOOF Rebekah service will be held at 3: 45. Funeral Service will be 2 p. m. Sunday, February 26 at Sharon United Church, Tatamagouc­he, Rev. Penny Nelson officiatin­g, with reception to follow in the Church hall. Spring burial will be in Lockerby Memorial Cemetery.
