SMITH, John Henry “Bud” – 75, Nuttby, Colchester County.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfathe­r on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with his wife, children and sister at his side.

Bud was born in Sydney and was the son of the late Cyril Smith and Ella (Heisler) Smith (Newell).

Bud lived his life fulfilling his dream by becoming a well-known farmer, owning a farm and raising purebred Herefords. Bud was also a well-known carpenter and spent his last years working with his brother, Eric Newell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joan (Simpson); children, Cyril (Charlotte), Cindy Redmond, David (Shannon); grandchild­ren, Mitchell, Jordan, Nicholas, Campbell, Christophe­r; son-in-law, Mike Redmond; siblings, Joan (Gordon) Weatherby, Eric Newell (Thelma); several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Opal Newell, Donna Newell Stuart, Sheila Newell, Gae (Alan) Crossman; motherin-law, Emma Simpson Jarvis.

Besides his parents, Bud was predecease­d by brothers, Robert, Roy, Allan, Peter in infancy; stepfather, Morris Newell.

In honouring Bud’s wishes, cremation has taken place with no visitation or funeral service by request. Interment at a later date.
