Doiron a reliable forward

-

Justin Doiron Hometown: Hammonds Plains Number: 11

Age: 20

Size: Six feet, 185 pounds Position: Forward

Justin Doiron is this week’s Bearcat of the Week.

In a must-win game against Amherst last Friday, Doiron assisted on a first-period shorthanded effort, then scored late in the second to pad the lead.

The grinders often go unnoticed on the scoresheet, but clearly their efforts along the way and on the penalty-kill make winning possible. Doiron, a third-year Bearcat, is a durable, reliable forward who has played all but one game since becoming a Bearcat.

He came to the Bearcats with three years of midget experience under his belt. In the first year, with the Titans, he experienced a provincial championship. In his final year as a Halifax McDonald, he scored 12 and assisted on 19 others. He picked up another 16 points in the playoff run, which resulted in championships at the provincial and Atlantic level and a trip to the Telus Cup.

He also gained some exposure as an affiliate with the Moncton Wildcats and was awarded the President’s Award for Most Improved Player (midget).

The 2013 Bearcat pick reported for the 2014-15 season and quickly adjusted to the Bearcat game. Doiron

Tibbo equals mark

The Bearcat career-high for goals scored in a single season was 41 by T.J. Smith during the 2005-2006 season. Kyle Tibbo’s five-goal weekend tied that mark, with six games remaining.
