Bearcat-of-the-Week honours go to defenceman Daniel Little.

In both shootout wins last weekend, he played steady, simple hockey in the defensive zone.

The Maritime Junior Hockey League veteran, now in his third season, is getting back into game shape. He was injured mid-January, returning to the roster following a month on the injured list.

He’s finding his game at the right time for the Bearcats.

Following two seasons with the Newbridge Major Bantam Senators, he had two productive years at the midget level with the Halifax Titans and the Halifax McDonalds.

He put up decent numbers in regular and playoff play during that second season, helping McDonalds win provincials and earning exposure at the National Telus Cup.

The 2014 South Shore pick played all of the 2014-2015 as a Lumberjack, then was traded to Yarmouth seven games into last season.

He and Nate Leger came to the Bearcats in August via a trade with the Mariners.

The Bearcats received an experienced D-man happy to be in the Bearcat system.

Kudos Assistant coach TJ Smith would be the first to congratulate fellow Newfoundlander, Kyle Tibbo, on breaking his club record of 41 goals (200506) in a single season.

Tibbo scored a pair last Sunday, in Dieppe, establishing a new Bearcat benchmark for goals scored in a season – with games remaining.

On tap

After a game in Campbellton on Friday, the Bearcats are in Miramichi tonight to face the Timberwolves.
