CARVER, Paul Arthur – 72, Truro, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 4, 2017, at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Reuben and Adaline (MacKenzie) Carver. Paul began his career with Canadian Armed Forces (Transport, Heavy Equipment, Safety) and then went on to work as an instructor at Commercial Safety College.

After this, he worked for Department of Transporta­tion in the scale house and then with Department of Labour as a Safety Inspector until his retirement in 2007. Paul will be remembered for his infectious personalit­y and humour and for the way in which he could tell a story, although, you were never quite able to tell fact from fiction! He absolutely loved golfing, summer camping at Sunset Watch Campground, traveling, following his grandsons playing hockey and attending Truro Jr. ‘A’ Bearcats hockey games. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jeannette (Bailey); children, Michael (Evelyn) Carver, Fredericto­n, New Brunswick; Jeannine Carver, Darnley, Prince Edward Island; Ronald (Maria) Carver, Edmonton, Alberta; Paula (Jason) Philipson, Belleville, Ontario; grandchild­ren, Tyler (Melissa Vanbuskirk), Darcy and Stefan LaPierre and Quintin, Tristan, Hayden and Jaida Philipson; great grandson, Mase LaPierre; siblings, Donna Green, Dartmouth; Susan (Rick) Daine, Eastern Passage; Ginnie (Ross) Clark, Marc (Kim) Carver, Dartmouth; Doug (Michelle) Carver, Mount Uniacke; Scott (Theresa) Carver, Eastern Passage; sister-in-law, Denise Carver, Shediac, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predecease­d by his brother, Barry Carver. Special thanks are extended to EHS and 911 for their compassion and guidance. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Paul’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017, and funeral service 11 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiatin­g. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. Family flowers only.
