REID, Parker MacQuarrie – 91, Truro, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, March 3, 2017, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Dougal and Sarah (MacQuarrie) Reid. Parker served overseas in the Second World War and was also in the Korean War. After getting out of the Armed Forces, he became a carpenter. Parker is survived by his life companion, Linda Francis, Lower Sackville; sisters, Laura (Archie) Blois, Lantz; Edna (George) Laffin, New Glasgow; Elodie Taylor, Sudbury, Ontario; half-sister, Nancy (Kamal) Mydean, Truro; half-brothers, Delmar, Truro; Neil (Joyce), Westville; George (Joan), Truro; many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predecease­d by his first wife, Ramona; second wife, Rita; half-brother, William; halfsister­s, Carol Reid Carr, Elizabeth Daniel. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Cedarstone Enhanced Care for the care that you provided to Parker. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26, Truro, will conduct a Legion Tribute Service 5:30 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2017, followed by visitation from 6-8 p.m., on Friday, May 26, 2017, and funeral service 2 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, Reverend George I. Luke, II officiatin­g. Reception will follow. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Parker’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
