MacIsaac helps shore up Truro’s defensive corps
Elliot MacIsaac Hometown: Victoria, B.C. Age: 18
Pos.: Defence
Size: Six-foot-four, 215 pounds Number: 4
Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to rookie defenceman Elliott MacIsaac.
Playing behind experience and in a position difficult to navigate requires patience.
When opportunities arise, make the most of them. He’s done just that in recent weeks making solid contributions in all situations. A big body and an improved game combine to make the Bearcat defensive corps that much stronger at the right time.
Elliott got his hockey start in Truro, prior to a family move to Saanich, B.C. He worked his way through the ranks to Midget AAA for a three-year run, picking up some junior B experience in the Victoria International Jr. League. He kept in touch with the Bearcats scouting staff, earning a shot at this year’s training camp.
He plays the game with his head up, physicality and a desire to learn the MHL game. He’s shown he possesses all of the tools, with experience now thrown in.
Welcome back
Last year, Jacob Fancy completed four years of Bearcats hockey, culminating with a Bearcats career high in wins (66). This year he suited up with the Dalhousie Tigers and he’s returned as Bearcat goalie coach as of last week. He works with Truro’s goalies once a week.
On tap
Truro’s regular schedule is now completed. The Bearcats await the start of playoffs later next week.
