Black Caucus members spending day in Truro

- BY LYNN CURWIN

Members of the Canadian Black Caucus will visit Truro Tuesday, stopping by for conversation at a few spots.

MPs Celina Caesar-Chavannes, Greg Fergus and Marc Miller will be joined by Cumberland-Colchester MP Bill Casey, Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard and other community leaders in Truro.

“They’ll be telling their stories and will invite questions,” said Casey, who invited them to make a stop in Truro.

“They will also be talking about opportunities for young people.”

He said the focus will be on inspiring young people to strive, but African Nova Scotian history and racism will also be discussed.

Most members of the Black Caucus, formed earlier this year, are of African Canadian heritage.

They will visit some Cobequid Educational Centre students during the day, attend a lunch at the Holiday Inn and hold an evening of conversation at the Marigold Cultural Centre.
