NELSON (McLellan), Reta Blanche – 84, Central Onslow, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Lower Onslow, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Marion (Peters) McLellan.

Reta graduated from Nursing at Halifax Children’s Hospital in 1953 and did private duty nursing in the Truro area.

Reta was the organist at Trinity United Church for more than 30 years. She loved music night at Lower Onslow Community Centre and shared many happy years with friends and family at the cottage at Shortts Lake.

Reta is survived by her husband of 62 years, Brenton; son, Rod (Julie); daughters, Kathy, Joanne (Clayton) Gamble, Barbara (Rob) Sullivan; seven grandchild­ren; seven greatgrand­children. Along with her parents, she was predecease­d by her son, Jeffery; brother, Robert “Bob” McLellan.

Reta’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Trinity United Church, 415 Onslow Road, Upper Onslow. Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Reta’s memory to Trinity United Church or a charity of choice are welcomed.

Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Mattatall–Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro.
