CANDIDATES Q&A: Riding of Colchester North
What is there about yourself that you would like voters to know, that they might not already be aware of?
Someone recently asked me what I do for fun. I laughingly said, “I work for fun!’’ But, that seems to be the truth. I enjoy my work and I am deeply committed to the residents of Colchester North. On a personal note, I now have four beautiful grandchildren with the youngest just being born in April. I think it’s best to answer this by using bullet points: - Born and raised in a small village in Scotland. - Moved to Canada in 2009. - Became a Canadian Citizen in 2013. - I have worked as a labourer on minimum wage, stocked shelves, served beer, sold electronics, managed operations and been head of an international company. I now have my own small business here in Nova Scotia. - I have five children and one grandchild. - I am an avid volunteer in my local community. - I started my political activity in 1985. - I believe we are all part of an interconnected society where we all play our part and no one is more important than anyone else.
- I joined the NDP as it was obvious that they had the best and most positive outlook for the future of Nova Scotia. Garry Burrill is an amazing leader in whom we can all put our trust.
- I WILL ALWAYS FIGHT FOR THE PEOPLE OF COLCHESTER NORTH.
I’m an innovative problem solver. Since I started
Pearl & Daisy Natural Soap Company eight years ago, I’ve won awards recognizing innovation from Nova Scotia
Business Inc., Innova Corp., and the
Globe & Mail.
I live in the same small rural community where my great-grandparents grew up, and where I hope my own great-grandchildren will too.
