Tanya Lynn Broome (Fisher), 47 years of Elmsdale passed away May 18, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She left us peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born July 1, 1969 in Truro, Tanya grew up in Hilden where she was an active member of her church and school community.

She graduated from South Colchester High School in 1987.

Tanya went on to further her education at Dalhousie University earning a Bachelor of Social Work followed by a Masters in Social Work Degree. She dedicated her life to helping others through her education and personal life experience­s. She was a driven profession­al, having held many positions in the field of mental health and addictions along with running her own private counsellin­g practice.

Tanya’s enjoyment in life was her love for all things canine. She received great pleasure and joy from her extremely well loved dogs. There was never a holiday card signed that didn’t include the names of her fur babies.

Tanya’s family was extremely important to her. She is survived by her husband Craig, mother Sylvia Patterson, step-father Ron Patterson (Jeff); sister Angela Smith, brother in law Lou (Craig), beloved nieces Emily and Megan, stepbrothe­r Scott Patterson (Jenalee - Violet), Craig’s family in South Alton; parents, John & Marg, brothers Cory (Vanessa - Katie, Ashley, Danielle, Carson (Tina), sisters Cathy (Willie - Samantha, Kayla ), Cheryl (Amanda, Kyle, Dillon); special friend Lisa Richardson, other dear friends (you know who you all are) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and coworkers and her fur baby Miss Suzy Q.

She was predecease­d by her biological father Edwin Fisher, paternal grandparen­ts, maternal grandparen­ts, paternal uncle and fur baby Baylee.

Special thanks to Dr. Stephanie Snow and the CEHHA Community and In-Patient Palliative Care Team and special friends Lisa, Janet, Jenette, Nancy and coworkers in East Hants who helped so much by staying in close contact with Tanya during her illness.

Tanya was taken from this world much too soon but has left many with memories and love which will last a lifetime.

Cremation has taken place. A celebratio­n of Tanya’s life will be held on Monday, May 22 at 2 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro.

Family flowers only. Donations in Tanya’s memory may be made to Mental Health and Addictions.
