Wolves three-peat as provincial high school champs

The South Colchester Academy Wolves edged the Avon View Avalanche 5-4 in eight innings to win a third straight Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Division 1 boys fastpitch title.

Riley Martell drove in the winning run with a base hit to score Austin Eisnor for the SCA victory.

Rowan Sears homered and tripled for the Wolves, while Carson Lanceleve tripled and Keegan Crowell doubled.

Brendon Walker led Avon View with a home run and a double, while Jared Wile singled and doubled.

Lanceleve pitched the win. He went the distance, allowing six hits, two walks, while striking out 11 batters.

Jarrett Henniger pitched a complete game for Avon View, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out two.

The Wolves opened the tournament with an 8-1 win over Hants East, before a 12-2 triumph over Dr. J.H. Gillis. SCA doubled Avon View 10-5 in its final preliminar­y game.

The Cobequid Cougars fell just short in their bid for a provincial title, losing 6-4 to North Nova Gryphons in title game.

The Cougars opened with a 7-0 loss to the Gryphons, before reeling off three straight wins to advance to the provincial final.
