GoFundMe campaign started to help find Taylor Samson’s body

- By JORDAN PARKER

A crowdfunding campaign has begun to help the family of murder victim Taylor Samson locate and put his body to rest.

Though William Sandeson, 24, was convicted of first-degree murder Sunday in the death of Samson, he has not yet told police where the body can be found. He faces life in prison with no parole eligibility for 25 years.

Now a GoFundMe campaign, titled Help Find Taylor Samson, wants to raise $15,000 to pay for cadaver dogs, hiring a private investigator and otherwise aiding the search for his remains.

“I want my son back,” Samson’s mother Linda Boutilier told The Canadian Press outside the courtroom after the guilty verdict Sunday.

“If he (Sandeson) doesn’t want to help us, then fine. I’ll find him on my own. I’m not going to stop looking for Taylor. I’m bringing him home.”

Samson went missing Aug. 15, 2015 and his mother has never stopped looking for him. The 22-year-old Dalhousie University student had gone to Sandeson’s apartment to sell him $40,000 worth of marijuana, the court heard.

The Crown theorized that Sandeson was in debt and suggested he killed Samson to steal the drugs and alleviate his financial burden.

DNA matching Samson’s was found on a bullet, gun and duffel bag seized by police at Sandeson’s apartment on Henry Street, as well as at Sandeson’s family’s farm in Lower Truro.

“Linda and Taylor’s friends searched dumpsters for blocks and blocks around Sandeson’s apartment looking for Taylor or at least a clue. She has searched tirelessly along the sides of the Trans Canada Hwy and many many other places,” said the GoFundMe description.

“Her goal . . . to bring her son home and give him a proper resting place. Taylor’s mom is going to continue to search for her son until she finds him. You too can help search for Taylor.”

She marked the one-year anniversary of his disappearance in a post on Samson’s Facebook page.

“If it takes me (’till) my last breath, I am bringing you home,” it said.
