Digby County homicide moves to Major Unsolved Crimes

- By SaRa ERICSSon

The unsolved homicide case of Lynda Anne Comeau has been added to the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.

The program is managed by the province’s Department of Justice and was originally launched in October 2006 to help police gather information on unsolved crimes.

Comeau’s body was found September 1, 2016, after police responded to a call for assistance at a Weymouth North residence.

RCMP ruled her death a homicide.

“We want to continue to investigate Lynda’s death,” said Sgt. Bill Raaymakers of the RCMP SouthWest Nova Major Crime Unit in a release.

“We hope that by adding this case to the rewards program, it will encourage someone to do the right thing and come forward with information, no piece of information is too small.”

As part of the program, a reward of up to $150,000 is offered for any information pertinent to the case leading to an arrest and conviction.

”Any loss of life is extremely difficult for families, and they want answers and closure,” said Justice Minister Mark Furey in a release.

“As a former law enforcement officer, I know how important it is that you speak with police and share what information you may have about this crime.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the program at 1-888-710-9090 and must be willing to provide their name and contact information.

They may also be called to testify in court. All phone calls will be recorded.
