Raymond Patrick Fitzgerald

-

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Raymond Patrick Fitzgerald, of Truro, N.S. on June 26, 2017.

Raymond, loving husband of 65 years to Donna (Forward) Fitzgerald, adoring father to Lynn Horne, Eastern Passage, N.S., and Lori Ayearst (Rob), Canmore, Alta., doting Grandfather to Jennifer Horne (Craig), Windsor Junction, N.S., Forrest Ayearst and Hannah Ayearst, Canmore, Alta.

Raymond was the son of William and Martha (Grover) Fitzgerald.

Raymond is survived by his sister Francis Chisolm (Blair), New Glasgow, N.S., as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 10 siblings.

Ray, along with his family, was immensely proud of his life-long career with the Canadian Armed Forces, which included a year-long term with the Peacekeeping forces in the Middle East.

Ray’s passion for hunting, fishing and music brought him years of pleasure. An avid runner in his younger years, Ray enjoyed his daily walks up until the end.

His punctuality could always be depended upon when he was headed off to his “office” at MacDonald’s to meet “the boys” for morning coffee. The coffee group was open territory for jokes, teasing and telling tall yarns, at which Ray excelled.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Fran Chisolm and Dr. Neil Bower for their ongoing commitment to Ray’s loving care.

Ray will be missed dearly as we know we have lost a great man, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Cremation has taken place. A private, family only, graveside service will be held at a later date.

On line condolences may be sent to lynnhorne123@gmail.com.
