Fast Fridays kicks off tonight at Truro Raceway

Fast Fridays get underway tonight at Truro Raceway.

In addition to 10 dashes of fast-paced harness racing under the lights, the raceway will offer musical entertainm­ent to help celebrate 250 years of harness racing in Canada.

There will also be special draws and harness racing swag giveaways.

Post-time is slated for 6:30 p.m. with qualifying rounds set for 5 p.m.

Truro Raceway will also host races on the following Fridays this summer: July 7, 28, Aug. 4.

Six line up in top class Tonight’s fast class showcases six of Truro’s premier pacers hunting down the $1,575 purse in the ninth: Montreal Phil; Mortal Combat; Smile Style; Badlandia, AllstarMan and Distinctiv Rusty.

Top of the Turn special Friday, June 30: Clubhouse sandwich and fries with dessert, tea/coffee – $15.95

Chase the Ace

June 25 Chase the Ace winner – Gary Fraser ($ 217).

Gary drew the Jack of Clubs, leaving the illusive Ace of Spades in the deck and a jackpot reaching $1,953.50.

Tickets are available to purchase during the week with the next draw being held Sunday, July 2 at 3 p.m. at the raceway.

New track record Elektra Express, owned by Danica Ellis of Brookfield, trained and driven by Marc Campbell, smashed the track record for three-year-old pacing fillies.

Electra Express wheeled off a sizzling trip in 155.4. on Sunday, June 25 in a division of Truro Raceway’s signature stakes – The Carl and Marg MacKenzie Memorial.

The old since 1990. record had stood

Holiday card in Saint John Race fans looking for harness racing fun on the holiday might take a look at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, N.B.

Saturday’s program will include the Walter Dale Memorial and Not So Rich Stake Race.

Truro entries making the trip across the border include His Boy Elroy, with Bernard (Pooker) McCallum and Dawn Ellis’ Goliath Reigns.
