Plenty to look forward to at the Wallace museum.

Wednesday afternoon Teas in the Garden resume this week at the Wallace and Area Museum in Wallace Bridge and will continue through July and August.

Visitors can drop by to enjoy tea, sweets and conversation in the screened porch for the gatherings, which run 2 to 4 p.m. The famous heritage perennial gardens, grounds and nature trails are also available.

Among the activities at the museum this summer, on Sunday afternoon, July 9 from 2 to 4 p.m., the annual Francis Grant Day is the anchor event of the month, set aside to honour Wallace resident Francis Grant – historian, author, shop owner, community volunteer, poet and grandson of a sea captain.

A line-up of enthusiastic local readers choose poems and short stories from “The Complete Published Works of Francis W. Grant: Keeper of the Stories of the Strait,” available in the Museum Gift Shop.

July 22 and 23 is Loyalist Reenactors’ Weekend, with the 84th Regiment of Foot, Second Battalion, a living history organization that portrays the life and times of the Regiment during the American Revolution.

The Regiment presents a military component – Highland Soldiers and the Royal Military – as well as civilian crafts, skills and lifestyle of the time period 1775-1783. The Regimental Camp will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Guests will experience a musket drill, artillery drill – with live fire – as well as 18th

century cooking, sewing, children’s games of the period, and other activities.

The popular Annual Flea Market takes place July 29. This year there will be a petting zoo for the children, as well as activities and games, while adults buy and sell.

The Museum is open Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.
