JOHNSON, Thora Penninah, 99, Truro, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Foster and Penninah (Langille) Dickson. Thora loved the cottage that she and her husband Warren built in 1961. She loved the beach and was a real foodie. Thora loved to bowl and continued to bowl until she was 95 years of age. She worked at the Truro Library and also volunteere­d for many years at the Colchester Regional Hospital Library. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter Lynn Macneil (Barry Smith) of Dartmouth; sons Peter (Hannah) of East Mountain, Michael (Jo-Ann) of Chester; grandchild­ren Karen, Christophe­r, Alexa, Jamie; great-grandchild­ren Kaylee, Gabriel, Brayden; sisters Ruby Matthews and Ena Naish, both of Toronto, Ont.; many nieces and nephews.

She was predecease­d by her husband Warren; sisters Dorothy McColm and Mary Sadler.

Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, from where a visitation/reception will take place on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. followed by a graveside service in Bible Hill Cemetery, Bible Hill with Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiatin­g.
