Thora Penninah Johnson

JOHNSON, Thora Penninah, 99, Truro, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Foster and Penninah (Langille) Dickson. Thora loved the cottage that she and her husband Warren built in 1961. She loved the beach and was a real foodie. Thora loved to bowl and continued to bowl until she was 95 years of age. She worked at the Truro Library and also volunteered for many years at the Colchester Regional Hospital Library. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter Lynn Macneil (Barry Smith) of Dartmouth; sons Peter (Hannah) of East Mountain, Michael (Jo-Ann) of Chester; grandchildren Karen, Christopher, Alexa, Jamie; great-grandchildren Kaylee, Gabriel, Brayden; sisters Ruby Matthews and Ena Naish, both of Toronto, Ont.; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Warren; sisters Dorothy McColm and Mary Sadler.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, from where a visitation/reception will take place on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. followed by a graveside service in Bible Hill Cemetery, Bible Hill with Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating.
