CLARK, John Edward, 77, of Truro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at his cottage in Shortts Lake, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Truro, he was a son of the late John Byers and Gladys (Fields) Clark.

Prior to his retirement, John worked with Lafarge Canada in Brookfield for 40 years. He was a member of the N.S. Western Horse Associatio­n, Mountain Golf Club, Truro Curling Club, Brunswick Street United Church, and an honorary member of the Salmon River Fire Brigade.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r and friend to all who knew him. He cherished and loved his three grandsons with all his heart, and especially enjoyed watching them playing their sports. John Pa enjoyed cruising around in his truck and 1981 white Monte Carlo. Also enjoyed playing pool every Wednesday afternoon with his pool buddies at the Fire Hall. You could always see John watching the Junior A Bearcats at the Rec Center. Annually since 1981, John and Sheila attended just about every National Firefighte­rs Curling Championsh­ip all across Canada.

John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, the former Sheila (Hamilton) Clark; daughter, Heather (Randall) MacDonald, Bible Hill; son, Mike “Sparky” (Tina) Clark, North River; grandchild­ren, Brandon and Cody MacDonald, and Tristan Clark; brothers, Greg (Kathy) Clark, New Minas, George (Joan) Clark, Middle Stewiacke, Richard (Monique) Clark, Brookfield; several nieces and nephews.

He was predecease­d by his brother, Peter Clark.

A firefighte­r’s tribute service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 8, followed by a celebratio­n of John’s life from 2-4 p.m., all in the Salmon River Fire Hall, 1102 Salmon River Rd. Family flowers only.

Donations in John’s memory may be made to the CEHHC Palliative Care Unit, the VON, or to the Hospice Society.
