Brookfield rider races to third-place finish at Gopher Dunes
Brookfield’s Tyler Medaglia continued his successful season on the dirt track by turning in a third-place finish Sunday at a national event in Ontario.
Tyler Medaglia continues to impress on the racetrack.
Medaglia picked up a thirdplace overall finish Sunday in Round 5 of the Rockstar Energy Drink national motocross series.
The Brookfield rider finished fifth in the first MX1 moto and raced to a secondplace finish in the second moto under perfect weather conditions and in front of a huge crowd at Gopher Dunes in Courtland, Ont.
In Moto 1, Medaglia said he struggled with the rear shock setup. However, he made necessary adjustments for Moto 2 and felt much more comfortable on the 450 Honda, resulting in a podium finish.
On a brutally rough and gnarly track where a rider’s fitness is put to the test, Medaglia proved he is one of the fittest athletes on the national circuit.
Americans Mike Alessi (3-1) and Matt Goerke (2-3) finished first and second, respectively on Sunday.
Medaglia, who rides for Royal Distributing Motovan Piller’s Race Team, is fifth in the national standings heading into this weekend’s event in Ulverton, Que.
He has 228 points, and trails fourth-place Alessi but a single point and is just five back of thirdplace Colton Facciotti. Goerke (264) holds down top spot, while Christophe Pourcel (255) is second.
On July 23, Medaglia will compete at his home track in Pleasant Valley.
