HINCHCLIFF­E, Phyllis Mae – 92, Truro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Wynn Park Villa, Truro.

Born in Middleton, Annapolis County, she was the eldest daughter of the late James Leslie and Pearl ( Balcom) ( Pidgeon) Beals.

Phyllis attended schools in Bridgetown and Truro and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1946 from Aberdeen School of Nursing in New Glasgow. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Truro, Past Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Myrtle Chapter No. 21 and a life member of Grace Archibald Women’s Missionary Society. Phyllis is survived by her son, Curt Stephens, Halifax; step- daughter, Diane ( Reginald) Spencer, Wawa, Ontario; step- son, Alden Jr. ( Margo) Hinchcliff­e, Prince George, British Columbia; sister, Minnie ( Robert) Sowerby, Kentville; sisterinla­w, Christena Beals, Kingston, Ontario; one nephew; three nieces; three cousins; five step grandchild­ren. Along with her parents, she was predecease­d by her husband, Alden. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Phyllis’ family will receive friends from 6- 8 p. m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017, and Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 1: 15 p. m., Thursday, July 27, 2017, followed by the funeral service at

2 p. m., Thursday, July 27, 2017, Reverend Paul Worden officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Middle Road Cemetery, Debert. Family flowers only.
