Superstores carrying GoodLeaf produce

-

Locally grown greens are now available year round.

GoodLeaf products, grown in a building at Perennia Park, in Bible Hill, are being offered at select Atlantic Superstores stores across the Maritimes.

Using technology created by its parent company Tru-Leaf Sustainable Agriculture Ltd., GoodLeaf is pioneering an indoor, vertical farming system that uses LED lights and reclaimed rainwater to grow produce in as little as one week, without the use of pesticides. The process uses about 90 per cent less water than traditional farming methods and

greens can be harvested, packaged and available for sale on

store shelves within a day. “We grow our produce in tightly controlled environments to the very highest standards in the industry,” said Gregg Curwin, president and CEO of GoodLeaf Farms. “It’s a difference you can truly taste. And by dramatically reducing the time and energy needed to grow produce, it really is a new way to eat responsibly.”

Mark Boudreau, director of corporate affairs with Loblaw Companies Ltd., said customers are looking for locally grown produce so the company is pleased to offer these products. The Truro Atlantic Superstore is one of those that will carry the produce.

GoodLeaf Farms is the exclusive Canadian licensee of the Tru-Leaf Smart Plant System.
