Cars of all years, makes and models will be on display at a car show in Tatamagouche today (Saturday).

The ninth annual Tatamagouche Auto Show is being held at Nelson Park, and will feature food, music and the coolest cars of Colchester County.

The show will have something for every kind of car enthusiast, and prizes will be given out throughout the event.

“We’ve always shot for 200 cars at least, and it is generally that or more showing up,” said Derek Tattrie, organizer of the show.

“It is a mixed show, and any kind of car from the ’70s down is eligible for prizes. Anything and everything is allowed. We will have two trophies to give out, as well as 100 smaller draws during the show.”

Spectators can vote on their favourite cars to win the people’s choice trophy, one of two trophies given out.

The second trophy is the Dave’s choice trophy, chosen by the show’s original organizer, David DeAdder.

“This is my first year running the show,” said Tattrie.

“Dave always ran it before, but due to illness, he couldn’t do it this year. We’re hoping he will feel well enough to come down this weekend, and pick a car he likes for the Dave’s choice trophy.”

Aside from cars, the show will have food and live music. For the kids, there are swings and slides in the park, and the local fire department will have a few fire trucks for kids to check out.

The show is not only about cars but it’s also about charity, and most of the proceeds are going to different charities.

“Everything we are doing is for charity,” said Tattrie.

“The money from the hamburgers and hotdogs is going to Guatemala, and there will be people selling coffee and muffins, which goes to the Tatamagouche train. We will be doing a 50/50 throughout the day, which will raise money to put back into the show.”

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration for cars is free, and entrance for spectators is by donation.
