Hometown Hockey coming to Truro
Rogers’ two-day celebration is scheduled for Oct. 28-29
Truro will take its place in the national spotlight in late October when the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour makes a stop in the Hubtown.
The two-day celebration will take place Oct. 28 and 29.
The first four of 24 hometown hockey stops for the upcoming NHL season were announced on Thursday. Niagara Falls, Ont., will open the season Oct. 7 and 8, followed by Haliburton Highlands, Ont., Charlottetown and Truro.
The remaining locations will be revealed in Septemeber.
Hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone will be in Truro on Oct. 29 to tee up the Sportsnet national game between the twotime defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins and Winnipeg Jets. “I cannot wait to hit the road in October for another year of Rogers Hometown Hockey,” said Slone. “These first four communities represent the start of another coast-tocoast exploration of not only how hockey unites us as Canadians, but also how beautiful every part of our country is. I’m ready to get the show started.”
Where the broadcast will take place in Truro hasn’t been determined yet.
Each week, Rogers Hometown Hockey features special guests, musical acts, star-studded appearances and first-class storytelling. It concludes with an outdoor viewing party of the Sportsnet broadcast and is open to fans of all ages free of charge.
