Harry Carson Mowatt – 84, Greenfield, Colchester County, passed away peacefully Aug. 29, 2017 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Riversdale, Colchester County, he was the son of the late Edwin and Anna (McCabe) Mowatt.

Harry attended forestry school in New Brunswick and following that worked for over 30 years with the Department of Lands and Forests, retiring in 1991. After retirement, he worked on a contract basis, providing animal control around the province.

He was a well-known hunter, trapper and enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors. Harry had a heart for wild animals and often assisted in animal rehabilita­tion. He was a practical jokester and was known for his sense of humour. He had a love for the German Shepherd breed of dogs and used them for work and everyday companions as well as training and breeding them.

He is survived by his wife, Susan (Fielding); former wife, Letha Mowatt; daughters, Yan Mowatt, Melanie (Steven) Miller; grandchild­ren, Zachary Palmer (Bobbi Deuville), Gracie Wilson, Betty Ann Bernard, Jessica, Abby and Sam Miller; great grandchild­ren, Caige and Cadyn; sisters, Florence Walker, Joyce Wright; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by brothers, Mac, Ross, Ron, Glen; sisters, Jessie and Helen.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 6-8 p.m. with a Celebratio­n of Life Service on Friday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, Rev. Larry Harrison officiatin­g. Reception will follow. Interment in Terrace Hill Cemetery, Truro.
