Volunteers needed for Nova Scotia Music Week

- BY LYNN CURWIN lynn.curwin@trurodaily.com

If you have an interest in music, or just enjoy meeting people, Nova Scotia Music Week has volunteer opportunities for you.

The event is being held in Truro Nov 2-5, bringing talented musicians and international delegates to the area.

“We’ve developed a trained volunteer base that is a wonderful resource and asset and we have good interest, but we still need people to sign up and we’re putting on a drive to get the rest of the target met on volunteers,” said Scott Long, executive director of Music Nova Scotia. “If you have an interest in music, particularly music from Nova Scotia, and discovering new music, this is a great way to do it. This gives you access to see and hear things some might not be able to experience.”

Volunteer positions include venue and stage managers, merchandise sellers, greeters, drivers, runners, educational conference monitors and people to work at doors.

“It wasn’t hard to get enough volunteers in the past,” said Long. “That’s another reason Truro was chosen to be our home for a while. It would be difficult to do things without committed volunteers.”

The volunteer application is online at https://secure.rotundasoftware.com/l/enrollment/novascotiamusicweek.

Last year Nova Scotia Music Week drew thousands of people to Truro.
