Four people charged in aftermath of raids on Bible Hill marijuana dispensaries
Four people are facing charges in the wake of raids at three medical marijuana dispensaries that took place a week ago.
Colchester District RCMP executed search warrants Sept. 1 after they received complaints from the community of possible drug trafficking. Six individuals were arrested at the time; two were subsequently released without charges.
A 25-year-old Dartmouth woman, a 27-year-old Dartmouth man, a 31-year-old Old Barns man and a 57-year-old Upper Kennetcook man are facing charges of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. They are scheduled to appear in court Nov. 15.
It’s alleged the individuals were using these storefronts to traffic drugs, said Sgt. Duane Cooper, Colchester District RCMP.
“As police we know the dangers this can bring to our community.”
The locations — Maritime Medicinal on Main Street and Re-Leaf Medicinal Dispensary and the Community Compassion Centre on Pictou Road — were raided around 3 p.m. and shut down to the public during.
Police seized unspecified amounts of cash, drugs, drug paraphernalia and an ATM.
Since the raids, all three locations have re-opened.
The RCMP’s General Investigation Section is still investigating, and says further charges and arrests are pending.
