James Paul “Jim” Dean

-

DEAN, James Paul “Jim” – Truro Heights.

With regret we are sorry to announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Grampie, and Papa D, on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after a battle with cancer and a broken heart.

With the passing of the love of his life, Edith, in December, he did not have the strength to battle any more.

Dad lived a very simple and rewarding life. He loved the good times and dealt with the bad. His greatest love was our mom and all of us, and he cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was so damn proud of all of us, and again gave us all everything… money couldn’t buy.

Dad was a well-known mechanic in the Truro area for years, starting at Rushton’s Fina and later on owning Jim Dean’s Texaco on Willow Street. A common term dad was known for was “Jimmy Fix.” He had a following by many and was loved by many. He loved his Chicago Blackhawks and his Blue Jays… even when they sucked.

Dad again, the same as our mom, you will give us the strength to carry on knowing your love and your desire to live long enough to see how well your grandchildren turned out. Although it was cut short, you saw enough to know how great and upstanding people they are turning out to be!

Your favourite song “Choices” by George Jones, shows us that you made all the RIGHT CHOICES, in raising, loving, and taking care of us all with mom. In your final days you were just as cordial as mom was, making us laugh and showing your love and making it easier for us.

You will be with us every day, till we meet again. We Love Ya xoxoxo, and God Love Ya!

Born in Glace Bay, Jim was a son of the late James and Lillian (Snow) Dean. He is survived by his children, Steve (Monique), Jamie, Rob (Shelley), Lisa; grandchildren, Timmy (Kelly), Tasha (Johnathan), Jeremy, Jaeger, Jaden, Joel, Josie, Josh, Ben and Emily; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Lucas, Lexi and Lydia; dogs, Hershey, Hemi, Cuda and Jake; sisters, Mae, Mary, Janet; brother, Walter. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Edith Nelson; sisters, Jeanette, Shirley, Ann; brother, Dan. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 1-4 p.m., in Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro. Family flowers only.

Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Palliative Care of CEHHC Truro. Thank you, Tasha, for everything you did for Grampie and thank you, Lisa, for providing Dad with a loving home with his best friend and companion, Hershey.
