SHAW, Douglas Malcolm “Doug” – 83, Truro.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to announce the sudden death of Douglas “Doug” Malcolm Shaw on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017.

Born January 1, 1934 in Arichat, he was the son of the late Harry and Joanna (Kehoe) Shaw.

Doug was a very hard worker and everyone that knew him knew he was the most kind, loving and caring gentleman.

Doug worked for many years with Imperial Oil as well as Esso. He owned the Isle Madame Motel in Isle Madame for many years as well as worked later for the Chignecto Central Regional School Board doing boiler maintenanc­e. He eventually moved to Crowes Mills and later to Truro.

Doug was a faithful parishione­r of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Truro and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marie “Joan” Shaw; sister, Norma Samson, Arichat; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Doug was predecease­d by his first wife, Viola Shaw (Boudreau); brother, Gordon Shaw. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro from where visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 15 from 6-8 p.m. with prayers at 7:45 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince St., Truro, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiatin­g. Reception will follow in Campbell Hall. Burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Robie Street, Truro. Family flowers only.
