Goaltending is the backbone of any successful team. It’s clearly been the case with the Truro Bearcats and that trend will continue.
The acquisition of veteran Kevin Resop, gives the current edition of Bearcats an experienced leader who is excited with the prospects of this group.
He will serve as an exceptional mentor for his tandem partner. Alec MacDonald, both under the direction of former Bearcat and current goaltending coach Jacob Fancy.
Resop got his hockey start on the streets of his hometown before donning the blades with the Elleton Eels. He soon moved on to the Tampa Bay Lightening 96 AAA program. Next up was a twoyear stint with the Shattuck St. Mary’s program.
As a goalie with the Boston Jr. Bruins (U18) in 2013-14, he was named goaltender of the year in the USPHL (1.84 GAA). The Halifax Moosheads drafted him in 2014 and over the next three years he played 79 Moosehead games.
The Bearcats obtained his junior A rights for the OCN Blizzard in July and a huge piece in the Bearcat puzzle was in place.
21st season
Throughout the season, the Bearcats will acknowledge the success of the first 20 years.
At the home opener, the organization will acknowledge the contribution of two retiring members of the organization — Keith MacKenzie (president) and Harold Barkhouse (statistician).
