Cougars win weekend games to stay undefeated

The Cobequid Cougars swept three road games over the weekend to improve their high school baseball record to a perfect 6-0.

On Friday, the Cougars defeated the Hants East Tigers 15-10. On Saturday, CEC took a doublehead­er from the North Nova Gryphons by scores of 19-7 and 12-2.

The Cougars are back home Tuesday against the Millwood Knights.

Game time at Stadium 1 field is 6 p.m.

CEC 15 Hants East 10

The Cougars scored six times in the first inning in an error-filled game.

Chad Mingo led CEC at the plate with two singles, while Bailey Mackinnon, Connor Angers and Luke Creelman each added hits. Connor Irwin was the winning pitcher. The Cougars made seven errors and the Tigers made six.

CEC 19 North Nova 7

A 14-run second inning paved the way to victory.

Quinn Cashen singled and doubled, Connor Irwin and Chad Mingo had two singles each, and Will MacGillivr­ay, Dawson Briggs, Angers, Mackinnon and Creelman singled.

Winning pitcher Lucas Watson threw a complete game.

CEC 12, North Nova 2

Briggs allowed seven hits in a complete-game victory.

Angers stroked two singles and a double for the Cougars, who broke open a close game with four runs in the fourth inning.

Briggs and Mingo had two singles apiece and Jackson Haight and Luke Smith doubled.
