Pos.: Forward

No. 97

Hometown: South Porcupine, Ont. Size: Five-foot-nine, 165 pounds

Bearcat-of-the-Week honours go to newcomer Karter Renouf.

Renouf scored the Bearcats’ first goal of the season in the loss to Yarmouth, then assisted on a pair in the home-opening win against the County Aces.

Going to the net is his game and already it’s rewarding to the Bearcats. It was clear in his two bantam AAA seasons with the Timmins Eagles that he would be around the net, picking up 89 points in 73 games.

Following a season with the Sudbury Wolves Minor Midgets, he suited up with the Timmins Major Midgets for the 2015-2016 season, scoring 29 goals and affiliating with the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners (NOJHL) where he played four games in the Dudley-Hewitt Central Canada qualifier. That season he was the midget league’s MVP.

Last year he played in the tough GOJHL with the Waterloo Siskins. Coming east to play with the Truro Bearcats in the MHL has been a good option for him.

On tap

Tonight, the Bearcats host the Pictou County Crushers. That game gets underway at 7 p.m.

Saturday, the Bearcats are at the RECC to face the visiting Valley Wildcats, also at 7 p.m.
