Free, family-friendly movies being offered

National fundraisin­g effort raises money in support of charity

Cineplex Cinemas Truro, at the Millbrook Power Centre, is among the theatres across the province hosting free, family-Friendly this Saturday.

Movie-lovers and their families are invited to enjoy a morning of free films for a good cause. For the seventh consecutiv­e year, Cineplex Community Day will treat guests to a selection of popular, family-friendly movies, with all proceeds from donations and select concession sales supporting the company’s national charitable partner, WE Charity, part of WE, “a family of organizati­ons that makes doing good, doable.”

This year’s line-up of free films includes popular releases such as Kung Fu Panda 3, Trolls, Ice Age: Collision Course, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Guests can enjoy concession­s like popcorn, soft drinks and select candy for just $2.50 each and, in exchange for a $2 donation, theatres will also be selling a variety of ME to WE Cineplex “Change Bracelets” which feature motivation­al statements to inspire youth to create positive change.

Cineplex theatres across Nova Scotia will open their doors at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with tickets available on a first-come, firstserve­d basis only.

Movies will begin at 9:30 a.m., and all locations will return to regular programmin­g in the afternoon.

Cineplex Cinemas Amherst and Cineplex Cinemas New Glasgow are also among the participat­ing theatres.
