-

The Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Rams lost a heartbreaker Saturday in ACAA women’s semifinal soccer action and failed to qualify for the championship game.

The Rams, the weekend’s top seed going into competition in Saint John, N.B., took on the University of King’s College Blue Devils in what proved to be a tight contest throughout that was decided on penalty kicks.

In the end, the Blue Devils’ Heather Riach scored on their 13th attempt, winning the game 1-0 and earning them a berth in Sunday’s championship match against St. Thomas University. St. Thomas downed Mount St. Vincent 2-1 in the other semi-final Saturday.

The Rams had a good opportunity in the final two minutes of regulation time against King’s as Shanice Maxwell rattled one off the crossbar.

Shots in the game were even at 9-9, as they were for corner kicks at two apiece.
