Dal AC to meet St. omas in placement game at nationals
After a pair of lopsided losses, the Dal AC Rams women’s soccer team will try to salvage a win in its final game at the CCAA championship.
e Dalhousie AC Rams will look to earn victory against a familiar foe on Saturday at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association women’s soccer championship.
The Rams meet the Atlantic conference champion St. omas Tommies in the seventh-place game at the national championship in Halifax. Start time is 10 a.m.
e Rams are 0-2 at the eightteam tournament. ey su ered a 7-0 loss to the No. 1-ranked and three-time reigning national champion Garneau Elans on Wednesday and were blasted 9-0 by the NAIT Ooks on ursday.
e Tommies were blanked 5-0 by the GPRC Wolves Wednesday and 4-0 by the Algonquin under yesterday.
e Rams and Tommies met twice during Atlantic conference regular-season play. Dal AC won both games by scores of 1-0 and 2-1.
Bronze- and gold-medal matchups at the CCAA championship were not known at press time. Maxwell CCAA All-Canadian On Tuesday, the Rams Shanice Maxwell, a Truro native, was named CCAA All-Canadian during an awards ceremony in Halifax.
All-Canadians were selected by
their conference based on performance and contribution to their teams.
Maxwell was also ACAA player of the year, leading the Rams to an 8-1-3 rst-place record in the regular season.
Maxwell, a former high school soccer standout with the CEC Cougars and former university player at Cape Breton College,
scored three game-winning goals this season.
Her experience and leadership, coupled with her vision on the
eld and precise distribution of the ball, enabled the Rams to take advantage of every opportunity.
Mariah Wright of the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics was the other ACAA player selected as an All-Canadian.
