KEIRSTEAD, LINDA G. – Age 69, of Caribou Island and Halifax, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 in Halifax surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Springhill, she was the daughter of the late Hilton and Lois ( Gilbert) Moore, previously of Parrsboro.

Linda grew up in Parrsboro and then attended Mount Allison University and UNB. After teaching English at Saint John High School for three years, her lifelong interest in travel began when she journeyed alone around the world.

In 1975, she returned to Canada and while playing the organ at a wedding she met the bride’s brother, Drew, who soon became her best friend and loving husband.

Linda and Drew lived in Truro for many years where she worked as a sales representative in the publishing business and later golf clothing before retiring to concentrate on her family, all while being a lifelong learner and an active volunteer. She served many charities and organizations – the Wentworth Ski Council, Cancer Society Corporate Fundraising, Marigold Cultural Cooperative Ltd., Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation, Opimian Wine Society Area Representative, Art Society and President of HALO, an international trade organization.

The family cottage at Caribou Island, later her house, is filled with memories of happy gatherings with family and friends, lobsters eaten and laughter shared. An excellent cook, Linda loved dinner parties, especially if dancing broke out.

Linda was a positive and fun-loving person who had many interests – art, skiing, running, swimming and golf, tending her extensive flower gardens but mostly travel – always wondering what was over the next hill.

Her journey continues knowing she will be dearly missed by Drew, her husband of over 40 years; son, James ( Tanis) of Munich, Germany and daughter Christine O’donnell (Drew) of Hammonds Plains; grandchildren, Liam, Ava, Maia and Senna. ”Nanna” loved her grandchildren very much and was grateful to have them all.

Linda was predeceased by her only sibling, her brother, Gilford Moore (Josie).

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre and all the medical community who offered her such great care.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. In keeping with her generous spirit, memorial donations may be made in Linda’s name to a charity of your choice. A private family internment will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Online condolences at www.smithsfuneralhome.com.
