A country-folk quartet is taking their harmony-filled Christmas show on the road, and will once again make a stop in Truro.

Quartette is heading out on a small holiday- themed tour around Atlantic Canada and will be making their return to the Marigold Cultural Centre on Sunday, Dec. 10 for a night of Christmas cheer and harmonies.

“I love all the Quartette shows, but I especially love the Christmas shows,” said Cindy Church, one of the four Quartette members.

“We do a combination of a few traditional songs everyone would know, and a bunch of songs we’ve written ourselves. There are a lot of beautiful harmonies in our music, which makes for a really heartwarming and lovely show.”

The show will feature a mixture of Christmas jingles and original tunes fans will be familiar with, as well as a few new treats too.

“Within the Christmas show we also do a few songs from our latest CD, usually around three or four,” said Church.

“It’s been awhile since we played the Marigold, so probably no one coming to the show has heard these live before. There might be a few Christmas songs they haven’t heard as well.”

Recently, the band celebrated its 20-year anniversary and released a special album called ‘Rocks and Roses,’ which featured handpicked songs that best represented the last 20 years of their music, plus 10 newly recorded tracks.

While the group doesn’t tour as much as they used to, Church likes to stay active in the music scene through performing with other acts such as Lunch At Allen’s, and by working with musical partner Nathan Tinkham, whom she is recording an album with in the spring.

When the opportunity comes to get the group back on the road, though, Church is always happiest when she gets to perform in her hometown of Truro.

“It feels very familiar when we come back to Truro,” she said.

“It’s nice because all of my family comes to the show, so it is definitely the special show on the tour for me. We are excited to be back in the Marigold theatre too, we love that theatre.”

Quartette is set to hit the stage this weekend at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, and tickets are $44.
