Truro Mall holds second annual charity Christmas tree contest
A decorating contest is asking shoppers to vote with their change this holiday season at the Truro Mall.
Returning for the second year, the Truro Mall is holding its Annual Charity Christmas Tree Decorating contest, which features six trees decorated by nonprofit organizations set up in the mall for shoppers to vote on.
“We are hoping to put a smile on our customers’ face by seeing beautifully decorated trees by local non-profit organizations,” said Jaclyn Johnston, marketing manager of the Truro Mall.
“Christmas is the time of year to give back and say thanks. This is a great way to give a small donation to one or all six of these great organizations.”
This year, six non-profits are participating, including Wayward Cats, The Salvation Army, 4-H, Colchester Canadian Mental Health Association, Colchester Community Workshops and the Colchester SPCA.
Each team was given a tree and $50 for decorations, which was donated by the mall, to create the best Christmas tree they could.
All six trees are currently on display in the mall, and shoppers can vote on their favourite tree or trees by donating spare change to the charity that decorated the tree. The contest will run until Christmas Eve, and the winning charity will have its donations matched by the Truro Mall up to $250.
