Braden Langille, an up-andcoming driver in Maritime stock car racing circles, will join the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour in 2018.
The 16-year-old from Shubenacadie will wheel a car bearing his familiar No. 51, fielded out of the Nova Racing shop in Antigonish.
Langille already has an impressive racing resume and it was that which led to his affiliation with Nova Racing, which in just a few short months has included being a helper around the shop, a test driver for the team, and driver of the No. 88 in four races during the last half of the season.
“I am so fortunate to have such a great opportunity,” said Langille. “Nova Racing has topnotch equipment and talented people.”
Langille’s 2018 ride will be prepared by George Koszkulics, the Nova Racing team manager, and an accomplished racer himself. The car will be maintained weekto-week between events at the Langille shop in Shubenacadie. Sponsors include Nova Construction, Velocity Machining & Welding, and Techtronics Machine Works.
Donald Chisholm is the owner of Nova Racing and is also an accomplished racer. He said he is thrilled to have Langille on board in 2018.
“Braden did a great job for us driving the 88 in a handful of races this year,” he said. “We are excited to team up again in 2018 and make a run at the Pro Stock Tour rookie of the year honours. We hope to give Braden the
best opportunity to run well and are looking forward to watching his progression behind the wheel. He is a solid, young guy with lots of talent and will make a great addition to the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour.”
In his four pro stock races this year for Nova Racing, Langille’s average finish was notable at 14.5 with a best finish of seventh in Riverside’s fall finale.
Langille started racing when he was eight, driving in the Bandolero division at Scotia Speedworld. He won the rookie title that
year and went on to capture the INEX International points championship in 2011, 2012, and 2013. In 2014 he was the Scotia Speedworld division champ, winner of the Big Dawg Challenge in New Brunswick, and the INEX Asphalt Nationals Bullring champion.
In 2015 Langille made the transition to Legends Cars while still running the Bandolero. He was the Bandolero Winter National champion (Orlando, Fla.) and at 15, became the youngest winner on the Maritime League of Legends circuit.
In 2016 Langille turned heads at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina when he beat drivers from all over North America to win an event in the muchacclaimed Bojangles Summer Shootout.
This past year he continued to race the Legends Car, and in July became the youngest ever Legends Cars winner at Scotia Speedworld.
In an eight-year racing career in Bandoleros and Legends Cars, Langille has amassed 84 wins in 188 starts.
