United Way working toward campaign goal

- By lynn CURWIN lynn.curwin@trurodaily.com

About 70 per cent of the $275,000 campaign goal set by the United Way of Colchester has now been raised, and people are being reminded that there’s still time to donate.

“A lot of campaigns happen in December now and with online campaigns we often don’t get the results until January, but the campaign can go until the end of February,” said Terry Hearn, executive director of the United Way of Colchester. If support comes in like it did last year we’ll be close to meeting that goal.”

Donations made during the holiday period are being matched by an anonymous donor, doubling the impact of each gift.

Some workplaces choose to run campaigns outside of the United Way’s official campaign period, and the United Way is happy to assist with these efforts.

The support of the annual campaign ensures support is available for programs and services throughout the community.

“Last year, United Way worked with over 30 agencies and funded 17 initiatives to strengthen the community and create change to improve 8,000 lives here in Colchester,” said Hearn.
