Monk, Sheryl Ann, 68, Lower Truro, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 in Debert Court, Debert, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Campbell) Clarke.

Sheryl was a member of the Old Barns United Church and a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society as well as Diabetes Canada.

Her baking skills were admired often by many when she helped with church and school bake sales and suppers. A devoted mother and wife, Sheryl placed her family ahead of herself. After a long day’s work was complete, she was content to go for a walk in the woods, enjoy nature and tend to her flower and vegetable gardens.

She is survived by her husband Robert of Lower Truro; son Jason (Jennifer) Monk of Princeport; grandchild­ren, Eva and Jacob; sister Linda Mckay, Toronto; brothers Dwight, Saskatoon, Ivan, Hilden, Wayne, Glengarry, Pictou Co; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by a brother-in-law Blaine Mckay.

Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to the MattatallV­arner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro where visitation will take place on Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. and where funeral service will take place on Sunday, Jan. 7 at 3 p.m. Reverend John Parsons will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home.

Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of choice.
