SUTHERLAND, Edna Alice (Nelson), Brookfield, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2018 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro at 100 years of age.

Edna was born in Brookfield on December 15, 1917 to the late Harding and Nellie (Moore) Nelson. She lived in Brookfield all of her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Florence, Brookfield; sons, Hugh “Herk”, Sunset House, Alberta, Peter (Vicki), Lanesville, Robin “Button” (Mavis), Porcupine, Ontario; daughter-in-law, Eileen, Brookfield; several grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, great-great-grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by her husband, Arnold; son, Lynn; twin granddaugh­ters; brothers, Everett and Seldon; sisters, Thelma and Gladys.

Edna enjoyed working in her flower beds, knitting, baking and visits from family and friends. You could always be sure that a visit planned or not would always see a plate of your favorite sweets appear on the counter.

At Edna’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
