STELLARTON – Violet Elizabeth Maclellan (Macdonald), 97, of Valley View Villa, Stellarton, formerly of Sutherland’s River, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, in the Villa.

Born in Maclennan’s Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel (Fraser) Macdonald.

Violet was a member of Sutherland’s River Presbyteri­an Church where she was a life member of the AMS. Violet was a school teacher in many schools through the years, retiring from Thorburn Consolidat­ed School.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and making sure they had a drive to a practice or appointmen­t, and making sure the grandchild­ren knew their facts and figures.

Violet is survived by daughter, Brenda (Jackie) Fraser, Eden Lake; sons, Steve, Bible Hill; Kevin (Heather Halliday), Westville; grandchild­ren, Michael ( Tannis), Edmonton; Roy (Carol) Red Deer, Alta.; Kim (John) Webster, Stellarton; Andrew ( Jill) Trenton; Zane (Natasha), Thorburn; Keagan Noade Maclellan, Little Harbour; great grandchild­ren, Sean, Clara, Statira, Palmer, Harper, Carly, Willow, Violet, Flynn, Dawson, Ryan, Mark; great great- granddaugh­ter Elizabeth; sisters, Elva Roy, Kings Head; Mae Cameron and Isabel Ross, both of Valley View Villa.

Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by husband, Palmer; daughter, Marlene Maclellan; granddaugh­ter, Shannon Lea (Fraser) Mcneil.

The family will receive visitors from 2- 4 and 6- 8 p.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Sutherland’s River Presbyteri­an Church, with Rev. Debbie Stewart officiatin­g. Interment will be in Maclennan’s Mountain Cemetery at a later date.

Family flowers only. Donations in Violet’s memory may be made to Sutherland’s River Presbyteri­an Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Special thanks to the wonderful care mom received at the Villa, where the second-floor staff showed her much love and compassion, and to the caregivers who enabled Violet and Palmer to be able to stay in their home for as long as they did. A special thank you to Heather Halliday who made Violet’s last days more comfortabl­e.
