Gwendolyn Lelia (Mackenzie) Matheson

MATHESON, Gwendolyn Lelia (Mackenzie), “Gwen,” 93, Greenfield, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and sister, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with her family by her side.

Born Oct. 17, 1924 in Onslow, she was a daughter of the late Beryl and Grace (Mooring) Cox.

She is survived by sons Larry ( Faye), Sedley ( Carol), George (Rhoda), Russell; daughters Zilpha, Bonnie (Terry) Macdonald, Mary Ann Rutherford; 15 grandchildren; stepgrandchild; 19 great-grandchildren; sister Meleta Wallace;

She was predeceased by her first husband Earl Mackenzie; second husband John Matheson; brothers Aulden, Murray, Wilfred; granddaughter- in- law Kimberly ( Trites) Mackenzie. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where visitation will take place on Friday Jan. 26th from 6-8 pm and where funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. Pastor Ken Banks will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in the Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
