Parole revoked for man who killed toddler son
An Indian Brook man, originally imprisoned for beating his toddler son to death, is back behind bars after his parole was revoked.
James Joseph Peter-paul, 34, had his parole revoked Jan. 19 after breaching terms of release for such reasons as associating with people deemed to be criminally active, failing to continually reside with family members as required and for being in the presence of children under age 16 without the accompaniment of an adult approved by his parole supervisor.
Peter- Paul was released on full parole in January 2017. He had been sentenced in January 2012 to more than eight years for manslaughter involving the beating death of his three-year-old son as well as break, enter and theft, operating a motor vehicle while disqualified, failure to attend court and other court order breaches.
That sentence was his second time in a federal institution and this is the second time PeterPaul’s parole has been revoked. The first occurred in 2005 when he was returned to custody for breaching terms of his statutory release.
Among terms of his most recent release was that he report all intimate sexual or non-sexual relationships and friendships with females to his parole supervisor, and follow a treatment plan for violence, substance abuse and personal emotional issues.
Last March 3, however, just 35 days after being granted full parole on Jan. 27, 2017, information reached the parole board that Peter-paul was associating with a female and this relationship was a concern due to “her unproven involvement in your current offences.”
Despite consistent denials Peter- Paul, after being taken into custody, eventually acknowledged having a sexual relationship with the woman, who had given birth to a child of whom he is believed to be the father.
Another breach of his parole terms occurred when PeterPaul was caught in a local traffic stop while driving a vehicle without a license and in the presence of two individuals known to police for their criminal activities.
Peter- Paul was at home in Indian Brook with his young son Matthew on Oct. 11, 2010 when police were dispatched to a 911 call shortly after 11:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they found the boy in an unresponsive state. Matthew died the following morning in the former Colchester Regional Hospital from a ruptured pancreas caused by blunt force trauma to the abdominal wall.
