Following are nominees for the outstanding club team, 16-20 years:

Tide U16 boys volleyball The 2017 Tide U16 boys volleyball team was a force to be reckoned with, both in Nova Sco- tia and at the Eastern Canadian championship in Waterloo, Ont.

Their season began Feb.10, and by the time they walked off the court after the provincial championship with the gold medal a few months later, they had accomplished a W-L record of 30-1 in match play against Nova Scotia and New Brunswick teams.

Next was the Eastern Canadian championship where they faced the top teams from Quebec and Ontario. There, they played against teams representing cities with larger populations than all of Nova Scotia.

The Tide, however, established themselves as a highly competitive team and posted a 6-3 record on their way to winning Division 1 Tier 2 gold and finishing ninth overall in Eastern Canada. Tide U18 men’s volleyball The Tide U18 team cruised through three Super Series tournaments, posting 18 wins against two losses, which made them clear favourites going into the provincial championship.

This team did not disappoint, as it went undefeated to claim the Nova Scotia title.

The players not only pride themselves on developing their own skills, but also take time to help with U14 and U16 Tide teams. The U18 players show a level of enthusiasm towards younger player’s skill development.

This team’s hard work, determination and consideration for others not only attributed to their success on the court, but also helps in building a strong Tide volleyball program for years to come.

Truro Bearcats U18 baseball The Bearcats spent the summer travelling from one end of the province to the other, competing in the 10-team AAA league.

They also played in a couple of tournaments, finishing third at the national elimination event and second at the Chris Ritchie Invitational.

The Bearcats record at the end of the 28-game season was an impressive 21 wins and seven losses, earning them a second-place finish in the standings.

At provincials, the Bearcats got off to a rocky start, losing 9-1 in their opener, making the road to gold even more difficult.

The next day the Bearcats regrouped, and after winning their first game, started to build momentum that carried them through the next game and the next. After four straight wins, the Bearcats won the 2017 provincial crown.

The Bearcats finished the season with an overall record of 3012.
