Mcgovern solid, safe on blueline
Jack Mcgovern Hometown: Dartmouth
Age: 17
Position: Defence Number: 44
H-W: 6-2, 200 lbs. Bearcat-of-the-week honours go to rookie defenceman, Jack Mcgovern.
Getting on the scoresheet is not common practice for this young blueliner as he completes in his first year
of MHL regular- season play, but playing a safe defensive game is.
Jack joins Curtis Hefferman and Graham Ruteledge as the rookie component on a defencefirst team. Being playoff bound is special to all of them as they grow their game.
Jack came up through the Dartmouth Whalers minor program to the bantam level where he competed for the Whalers Major Bantams. Next up was a two-year run with the Dartmouth Steele Subaru midgets, earning a trip to the Telus Cup in the 2015-2016 season.
At the conclusion of that year, he was a Bearcat and Saint John Sea Dog draft pick. In August of this year his major junior rights were acquired by the Halifax Mooseheads. After a strong Moosehead camp he reported to the Bearcats.
He brings a big body and right shot to the defensive corps. He’s responded well to MHL play and in recent games he’s stepped up with additional as demands were placed on him.
