Macdonald, Resop stellar between the pipes for junior A Bearcats
Bearcats goaltenders Alec Macdonald and Kevin Resop have carried on a winning tradition with the franchise’s 10th MHL Young-knickle award.
Bearcat of the Week honours are shared between the goaltending tandem of Alec Macdonald and Kevin Resop.
Except for a short period of time in October, they worked together, giving the Bearcats the support needed. Giving your teammates the best chance at winning is what goalies do.
They combined to allow the fewest goals against in regular- season play, earning the Young-knickle award for the top goaltending duo in the MHL.
This marks the 10th time in 15 years the honour came Truro’s way.
It speaks volumes to the good things that can happen when the Bearcats play Bearcat hockey from the crease out.
Resop, a native of St. Petersburg Fla., is a veteran of major junior hockey, having played the last three seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads.
He appeared in 39 Bearcat games, compiling a 2.56 goalsagainst average and .910 save percentage.
Macdonald, a Truro native and a 2016 territorial pick from the Weeks Major Midgets, finished with a 2.13 GAA and a .920 save percentage in 12 appearances.
